Lichfield Skate park update May 2010
On 13 May 2010, the Skate park design proposals that had been submitted from the designers were reviewed. The committee had received 3 Proposals by the due date.
Whilst each proposal had merits, none of them really met all of the criteria set out in the adverts. Some lacked Skate park design inputs and some did not address the appropriate landscaping demanded at this location, and one had bid for a design and build contract when only a design contract is on offer at this stage.
As a result of this the committee have decided to write to those that submitted designs and also those that didn't to encourage collaboration between landscape and skate park designers and to remind all involved that they are seeking to appoint a design contract at this stage.
The deadline has been extended to the 30 June 2010. A construction contract will follow in due course.
Some funds have also been secured towards the costs of the project from the Council's Section 106 programme although there is still a long way to go to reach the £300,000 needed for this project.
